Located along the northern coast of San Diego County, Solana Beach is a small tranquil town known for its shopping and surfing. Solana, which translates to "solarium" or "sun-trap", lives up to its name boasting a winter than is only a few degrees cooler than its summer. This little town is only a thirty minute drive from downtown San Diego and is the home of the Santa Fe train station, with access to Amtrak and the commuter rail Coaster.
Solana Beach was originally a farming community with no access to the ocean, but after cutting a path through the bluffs Solana Beach now has three beautiful beaches. These beaches are open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. with great areas for surfing and body boarding. Cedros Design District, a short walk from the beach, is home to several unique shops and restaurants. Art galleries, antique shops and surfing outfitters also call Solana Beach home.
The Solana Beach School District serves several different communities and has a long-standing tradition of academic success. The small, tight knit school system is very safe and focuses on innovative learning opportunities for each child. Solana Beach is a great choice for the entire family!
