Pacific Beach Information and Highlights

Pacific Beach, located in the San Diego Coastal section of California, is one of the most delightful and enjoyable places to live. This oceanfront community offers a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean to the west, and is further neighbored by La Jolla, Mission Beach and Mission Bay, and Interstate 5 to the north, south and east, respectively.

First given its name in 1885, right after the completion of a railroad link between San Diego and the East Coast, Pacific Beach quickly became a magnet to visitors from all walks of life who were interested in buying pieces of the attractive land. Today, with a population of over 40,000, the area appeals largely to single, college-aged young adults. Some of Pacific Beach's most popular attractions include Tourmaline Surfing Park, Crystal Pier, Mission Bay Park, and the Pacific Beach Recreation Center.

Six public schools are a part of the San Diego Unified School District; they include: Pacific Beach Middle School, Pacific Beach Elementary School, Sessions Elementary School, Bayview Terrace Elementary School, Baldwin Academy, and St. Paul's Lutheran School.

Pacific Beach is also home to various employers in a wide range of fields, such as food services, engineering, manufacturing and accounting.
