California's North County Coastal area includes many gem cities and small towns stretched out along the Pacific ocean. Some of the major cities include Carlsbad, Encinitas and Oceanside, and are supported by a mixed economy of tourism, manufacturing, education, technology, and medicine.
Of all the attractions, the region's great surfing beaches are by far the most famous. Surfers come from almost everywhere to ride the waves in the North County Coastal region because the conditions there are some of the best in the world. There are plenty of things to do on dry land as well. Many communities have excellent country clubs, and the entire region boasts over 40 golf courses beloved by top-ranked golfers. Kids adore living close to SeaWorld and LegoLand, and parents will love that they can keep their children entertained with fascinating trips close to home.
This region is served by several school districts, each with their own set of K-12 and pre-school options. For higher education, people can choose between many colleges and universities such as Mira Costa College in Encintas, the Army and Navy Military Academy in Carlsbad, San Diego State University, the University of California San Diego campus, and California State University-San Marcos.
