Mission Beach Information and Highlights

Mission beach is best known for it's similarities to the east coast beaches of Coney Island and Atlantic City.  It was originally built as the Mission Beach Amusement Center in 1925 and it continues to have carnival rides for it's residents and visitors. It is an outdoor paradise offering just about every water sport known to mankind (ocean, river and bay) as well as land sports in beautiful Belmont Park.  It's central location gives residents easy access using excellent public transportation or car to the San Diego International Airport, University of Southern California, San Diego Chargers and Sea World.

Mission Beach is a very diverse community with a median age of 31.03 years. Most residents work in white collar professions and are college educated. It is a small area with 22,747 households.  Many of these are non-family households. 

Area public schools are located close by in the Pacific Beach neighborhood. Other options for schooling are magnet and private schools. The University of San Diego is in Morena and offers some of the best college degree programs in the country. 

Employment in the immediate area is primarily in the service sector.  There are numerous restaurants, retail stores and amusement parks.
