Downtown San Diego Information and Highlights

Downtown San Diego is one of the most popular places to visit in the world with seven different neighborhoods in the city, between Little Italy to the Gaslamp Quarter. Mainly known for the perfect weather and incredible beaches, the city offers plenty of attractions.

 With a population of 28,000, Downtown San Diego is is full of arts and culture attractions with The Balboa Theatre, the Spreckels Theatre, and Copley Symphony Hall. There are also plenty of exhibits available at Balboa Park. A number of eclectic boutiques and restaurants can be enjoyed for many places that include a view of the water.

 There are several public schools in Downtown San Diego, which include Washington Elementary School, San Diego High School, San Diego City College, and Roosevelt Middle School. The Monarch School is also available for students in grades K-12 who are homeless or in need. Private schools in the surrounding area include the California Western School of Law.

 A majority of the streets in Downtown San Diego are one-way and are laid out in a grid with three different highways that run through the location. Most parking needs to be paid for with meters, but a number of public transportation options are also available. The San Diego Trolley, San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, and a commuter train is available.
