Bonita has quietly been the 'it' community in South Bay for a very long time. Located East of about 7 miles East of the San Diego Bay, the community lines the Sweetwater River Valley for another 5 miles or so on both sides.
With a polo team and an iteration of the locally famous Country Day private schools located in town, it isn't surprising for many people to opt to visit the store by riding their horse along one of the many horse trails near the river.
One of the best features of Bonita, outside of its quiet charm is that the recreational areas are all in the center of the community so that everyone is close to them. The amenities start inland with a county regional park followed by a golf course and baseball fields, followed downstream by a vast regional park that runs for miles. There is then another golf course and a huge park known as Rohr Park that features several outdoor playing fields and picnic areas, before the area gives way to more county regional park along the river as it approaches the bay.
Average home prices are above average for the San Diego region and the per capita income is around $61,000.
